Sickle Cell Anemia

A blood disorder caused by abnormal inherited hemoglobin is called Sickle Cell Anemia. This hemoglobin distorts the RBC of the blood causing the blood cells to be fragile and they rupture very easily. They sometimes block the blood vessels causing the damage of the organs and tissues with severe pain. The child inherits this disease from their parents through the genes. The main symptoms for this disease are anemia and fatigue, hand & feet swelling, bacterial infection, spleen & liver problem, ulcers, heart& lung injury, eye damage, etc. Infants show the symptoms after 5 months of age and in children and adults it may crop up any time.
