Staph
Staph is a genus of Gram-positive bacteria. Under the microscope they come into view round (cocci), and form in grape-like clusters. The Staphylococcus genus comprises at least forty species. Among these, nine include two subspecies whereas one has three subspecies. Most of them are risk-free and reside generally on the skin and mucous membranes of humans and other organisms. Found international, they are a small element of soil microbial flora. Assignment of a strain to the genus Staph requires that it is a Gram-positive coccus that forms clusters, produces catalase, has an appropriate cell wall structure (including peptidoglycan type and teichoic acid existence) and G + C substance of DNA in a range of 30-40 mol%.
