Temporomandibular Joint
Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is the joint of the jaw that connects to the side of the head of the body. The proper functioning of TMJ indicates that you are able to talk, yawn and chew properly. People affected with TMJ dysfunction experience problems with muscles and joints, causing severe pain passing through face, jaw or neck, stiff jaw muscles, limited jaw movement, painful clicking inside the jaw and a change in the manner how upper and lower teeth fit together. Pain in the jaw may vanish with less or no treatment at all, whereas if at all there is treatment required, you can do it by yourself like eating only soft food items, or using ice packs. You can also use pain-killers or devices to insert inside your mouth. Very rare cases do require surgery.
