Vater’s Ampulla
Vater’s ampulla is formed by the pancreatic duct and the common bile duct together. It is also known as Hepatopancreatic Ampulla. In the major duodenal papilla, this ampulla is placed. The point which marks the anatomical conversion from foregut to midgut is the ampulla of vater. Vater’s ampulla is an important Landmark. The second part of duodenum is halfway along the ampulla. It can be cause if the pancreatic secretion to the drain is not proper. A common cause for this failure of pancreatic secretion is the blockage of hepatopancreatic ampulla. A gallstone in the common bile duct can cause this blockage.
